On the final we talked alot about classes that joe was hosting in the future. I was thinking about doing the one about animation and video editing cause i do that for a living. I enjoy it and i want a job in it......but he said it might not get the class till next spring....that stinks=( but hopefully i can wait

Art Event 2

Last week I went to the senior art show. I thought that both seniors had very well thought out topics and presentations. The first senior’s topic was orentalism. She started off by  showing art work from a person named Ingres. One painting known as Valpincon Bather showed a woman nude, with her back toward the audience while wearing a turban. The speaker explained that while those types of women are not as much desired in their own country to the east, men in the western part of the United States do desire them. I believe they desire them because they are foreign and mysterious to the men of the west at the time (which was Europeans.) Another artist that the senior looked at was a person known as Man Ray, who was directly influenced by the paintings of Ingres. Ray made a piece that he called coat stand which combined a women with a coat stand (in photo form). The senior believed that the artist’s message to people was that women were just objects, exactly like a coat stand. I myself believe that Ray’s argument is not valid because women have done so much to be recognized that they can be seen more as people than objects. The Second senior to showcase in the senior art show talked about the works of Kathleen Gilje. This Artist’s specialty was taking a art historian or a critic and putting the face of such person in her work. One example of his work is lowry Sims as Napoleon, which shows the face of an African American woman on the body of Napoleon Bonaparte. The painting also shows a gun instead of a sword. Back when this painting was made, African Americans did not have a lot of rights as they do now. To see a African American in power (much less a women) would have shocked a lot of people back then but now it does not surprise people at all. Gilje captured that in his piece of art.

Overall, I believe that the seniors that presented did a very nice job. All of the artist that they talked about had very interesting paintings that were not just pleasing to the eye, but also made you think as well.          

Art Events

One art event that I went to was the museum opening and display of Leonardo Divinci inventions. I mostly paid attention to the inventions because of a certain video game series I like to play, and Leonardo Divinci and his inventions are in the sequel.

 One invention that I had no idea Divinci made was the printing press. The printing press is a machine that makes it more efficient to print news papers. In that time there was no TV or radio so everyone relied on the paper to inform them on what’s going on in their world. Another machine that Divinci made (that I had no idea that he made) is the hydraulic screw. This invention converted water movement into mechanical power. This would have been useful because since electricity hadn’t been invented, and some machines needed more than manmade power, then using nature to aid in the movement of a machine is the best way of getting the machine to work.

 One invention that I did recognize from the game Assassins Creed was Divinci’s blueprints of his flying machine. The way he had his flying machine set up was that the person would lie on top of the machine, while using his arms to flap like a bird he would then try to fly through the air. The wind would aid him as he glided through the air and if he ever needed more altitude, the person could just flap and therefore, get higher. I also found out some clever things Leonardo did to keep his inventions a secret.

Occasionally, Leonardo would worry that someone might try to steal ideas for his inventions, so he would write his blueprints backwards so that only people that could read backwards or translated them forwards could read them. I found that very useful when trying to hide things from thieves because the thieves would probably just assume that Leonardo was crazy.

Final

The Final is tomorrow and it should be relativly essay. I hope that i did everything right with the assignments. Ifeel that as long as everything is good, a B is the best grade i could get.....even though i would love an A

Last Week

Today is the last week of class. Im really nervous about how i get all my blogs done.....why didnt i do this? no idea....maybe i just got sidetracked. I will post my work soon to my youtube page and my flicker account.

Blogging

I have to start blogging more often.....by the end of the year im going to feel like i dont have enough blogs to satisfy joe so i must blog more starting this week. i'll post some my recent video on my blog once i have the file. I need ti get the file from my working computer so once i get to class i will post it on youtube and on my blog.

Critic #2

The first critic on monday went pretty well for me. I believe by the end of the critic, everyone knew what my art was trying to say. Always a good thing. What i am alittle concerned about is how this next critic will go. I did the project and handed it in on time, also im proud of my work. But some people definitely did better than me with their work. Also im worried if i did the work up to joes expectations. I guess I'll  find out today.

Idea

I have a new idea for my upcomming project, its going to be time consuming with all the drawing and stuff, but the animation process wont be that hard. Also it requires i do alot of drawing and im not a good artist but for this project im going to try my best to get it done

Assignment

My current assignment for joes class is going well.....i plan to post pics of it when im almost done but i have my words and im aleady 1/3 done with the project......we will probably have time to work after the long lecture but i plan to finish up either today or tuesday

Photoshop

I learned alot about the pencil tool today, but i still need to present tomorrow to the class for a grade....shouldnt be that hard the tool is not that dificult to understand

Crap...

Joe has me blogging again.......aww damn, i was never a fan of blogging but i can do it 3 times a week starting today; i guess. Honestly my workload at college this year isnt that bad, but then again the year just started so i should just stay on top of it so i dont fall behind. i need a high GPA this time.....goal at the end of the year should be over 3.0...that be nice
